The Competition

The Baja SAE Competition challenges student teams worldwide to demonstrate engineering innovation, technical expertise, and resilience. Each season, our team designs, builds, and tests a custom off-road vehicle, aiming to excel in performance, durability, and teamwork.

Static Assessments

Each season, Baja SAE tasks teams with a new prompt to develop a vehicle that could be mass-produced. We document every aspect of our process, from production costs to design decisions, and propose cost-saving measures for future production. Our final presentation to Baja judges is our pitch: a compelling case for our vehicle's design, functionality, and financial feasibility.

Dynamic Assessments

Dynamic Assessments bring our vehicle to life, testing its engineering across five intense events. Each subsystem—from suspension and drivetrain to steering—undergoes rigorous evaluation. Following a thorough safety inspection, our vehicle competes on a range of courses to test acceleration, traction, and endurance. The competition culminates in an endurance race where teams go head-to-head to complete the most laps on a rugged course, proving the durability and reliability of their designs.

The Team

Driven by passion and creativity, our engineers bring together a diverse range of skills to design, build, and optimize our vehicle. Each member contributes vital expertise, whether in 3D modeling, CNC machining, or system integration, to turn our shared vision into a Baja-ready machine.

Our Progress

This school year, we’ve secured a dedicated workshop and two supportive faculty advisors—Professor Brett McKim and Professor Matthew Wolken—who guide us through the engineering design process. Our team has grown to include 15 dedicated members who meet biweekly to plan, design, and build. So far, we’ve completed phases from Initial Research to detailed drawings and are finishing up our final CAD assembly.

We've organized into subteams:

We use TeamGantt to streamline our workflow. With a detailed budget in place, we’re moving steadily toward a complete, competition-ready vehicle for race day.
